Dissemination of Core Health Messages (DCHM)

The overall objective of the Dissemination of Core Health Messages project is to determine the most effective dissemination methods for the newly created Core Health Messages by identifying factors which help or hinder their adoption by rural, low-income mothers and the professionals who serve them.

Specific goals of DCHM include:
  1. Assess mothers’ perception of the appeal of three newly-created Core Health Messages.
  2. Ascertain mothers’ subsequent actions in response to the Core Health Messages.
  3. Establish conditions necessary for use of the tested Core Health Messages by community-based stakeholders.
  4. Determine the comparative advantage of electronic and non-electronic dissemination methods in stimulating response to the Core Health Messages among targeted mothers.

DCHM project was supported by the Rural Health and Safety Education Competitive Program of the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, grant number 2011-46100-31135.
